With a history reaching back to 1557 and nearly four and a half centuries of continuous winegrowing, the château offers both a strong sense of place and the classic character associated with Saint-Estèphe.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour with pronounced intensity. Its inviting bouquet reveals ripe blackcurrant alongside floral notes, warm spices and subtle vanilla from oak ageing.

On the palate, it is full-bodied yet smooth and well balanced, with generous dark-fruit flavours and a supple texture. The finish is pleasantly soft and lingering. Its structure and oak maturation should allow it to develop further in bottle over the medium term, while remaining approachable with decanting in its youth.

Production
The 11.05-hectare estate is located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, a Left Bank Bordeaux terroir renowned for producing structured, age-worthy reds. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks over three to four weeks at controlled temperatures, allowing for careful extraction of colour, aroma and flavour. The wine is then matured for 12–14 months in oak barrels, 25–40% of which are new.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Château La Haye 2022 pairs naturally with roast beef, lamb, venison, duck and hearty dishes such as beef stew or mushroom-based preparations. Decanting for around 30–60 minutes is recommended when serving the wine young, both to open its aromas and to soften its youthful structure.

Producer
Château La Haye has been associated with viticulture since 30 April 1557, when an early purchase agreement established the foundation of the estate and its vineyard holdings in Leyssac. Before the French Revolution, it was one of three noble houses in the parish of Saint-Estèphe, alongside Calon and Pez. The château assumed its present architectural form by 1870; its winemaking facilities and cellars were completely rebuilt in 1990. Since 2012, the estate has been owned by Chris Cardon and continues to represent the long-standing winemaking heritage of Saint-Estèphe.
