Known for its expressive floral character, silky texture and finely balanced structure, it offers an elegant interpretation of the region’s celebrated Merlot- and Cabernet Franc-based style. The estate has been part of Pomerol’s heritage since the 18th century and has been owned by the Nicolas family since 1871.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, polished ruby colour. The nose is beautifully perfumed, opening with violets and peonies before revealing layers of red and dark berries, ripe plum and subtle spice. On the palate, it is creamy and silk-textured, with vibrant freshness and exceptionally fine-grained tannins. A long, mineral finish brings impressive precision and balance between fruit, freshness and structure.

This is an elegant Pomerol with both immediate charm and excellent cellaring potential. It can be enjoyed in its youth for its floral fragrance and supple fruit, but should develop greater complexity over the next 15–25 years in a good cellar.

Production
Château La Conseillante’s 11.8 hectares are divided into 16 separate parcels in the heart of Pomerol, bordering some of Bordeaux’s most prestigious terroirs. The vineyards are cultivated and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve the individual character of each site. Following a five-day cold maceration, fermentation and skin maceration continue for approximately 27 days in temperature-controlled concrete vats. Around 7% of the harvest undergoes vinification intégrale. The wine is then aged for 16 months, with 70% in new French oak, 27% in one-year-old barrels and 3% in amphorae.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for refined dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison and duck with plum or berry-based sauces. It also works beautifully with truffled dishes, earthy mushroom preparations and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to settle. Decant for around one hour when drinking young; older bottles should be decanted carefully and briefly to remove sediment without losing their delicate aromas.

Producer
Château La Conseillante is one of Pomerol’s historic estates, taking its name from Catherine Conseillan, who acquired the property in the 18th century. The estate has been in the Nicolas family since 1871 and is recognised for producing wines of great finesse, perfume and terroir definition rather than sheer power. Its small, fragmented vineyard and meticulous parcel-by-parcel approach have helped establish La Conseillante as a benchmark for elegant, modern Pomerol.
