It combines Gosset’s historic Aÿ heritage with extended cellar ageing, offering remarkable depth, complexity and freshness. Founded in 1584, Gosset is recognised as the oldest wine house in Champagne.

Tasting Notes
The Champagne shows a deep golden colour with a refined, mature mousse. Its expressive nose opens with aromas of dried fruit, apricot and candied pineapple, followed by elegant notes of chestnut honey. On the palate, it is rich and complex, revealing plum, yellow fruit and citrus flavours supported by a distinctive mineral freshness and subtle saline touch.

Despite its long ageing, the wine retains impressive energy and balance. It is ready to enjoy now, when its mature fruit, layered texture and mineral finish are at their most expressive. Further ageing is possible under excellent cellar conditions, although its complexity makes it particularly rewarding to drink in the near term.

Production
Gosset traditionally selects fruit from highly rated Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards in the Marne, with an average classification of around 95% on the official échelle des crus. The house carefully avoids malolactic fermentation in order to preserve the wines’ natural malic acidity, fruit character and freshness. After a restrained dosage of 3 grams per litre, the bottles are returned to the cellars to rest so the dosage can integrate harmoniously. This cuvée has undergone exceptionally long cellar ageing—presented as 21 years in the cellar—with the producer’s description also referring to a minimum ageing period of 12 years.

Food & Serving
Its mature profile makes it an excellent match for roasted poultry, veal, lobster, scallops and richly textured fish, while the mineral and saline finish also complements oysters and fine seafood. It can be served as an aperitif or alongside dishes featuring mushrooms, lightly spiced cuisine or mature cheeses. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is generally unnecessary for Champagne; instead, pour gently into tulip-shaped Champagne glasses to highlight its aromas and mousse.

Producer
Established in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, a local councillor and vine grower, Champagne Gosset began by producing still red wines from its own vineyards. As sparkling wine production developed in and around Aÿ during the 18th century, the house evolved into one of Champagne’s most respected producers. Gosset remains particularly known for preserving freshness through the avoidance of malolactic fermentation and for blending highly rated Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines from the Marne. Its long-standing history makes it one of the defining historic names of the Champagne region.

https://bottlehero.com/products/champagne-gosset-champagne-21-ans-de-cave-a-minima-in-wooden-case-nvt-nv
