The expressive nose brings together ripe red fruit and jam-like notes with spice, vanilla and liquorice.

Production
The grapes come from four hillside plots around Castellina in Chianti, at approximately 400 metres above sea level. Their limestone-rich soils contribute freshness and firm structure. Harvest takes place in mid-October, followed by fermentation in stainless steel. The wine then matures for 30 months in partly new barrels and a further 12 months in bottle, developing complexity and the structure to age gracefully for years.

Food & Serving
Pair it with roasts, grilled or braised red meat, and mature cheeses. I Sodi di San Niccolò, named for the region’s steep, difficult-to-work soils and a nearby 14th-century church, is the estate’s historic flagship wine. First made in 1977, it has become a notable expression of the producer’s Tuscan vineyards.
