Made from Arneis, a signature grape of the Roero hills, it combines delicate aromas with impressive structure, length and freshness. The wine reflects the long-standing philosophy of Cascina Ghercina, founded in 1871 and dedicated to estate-grown grapes and quality across generations.

Tasting Notes
Bright and inviting in the glass, this Arneis opens with an intense bouquet of flowers and ripe fruit. Chamomile is particularly distinctive, accompanied by elegant notes of apricot and a subtle, fresh lift. On the palate, it is delicate yet well structured, with a balanced texture and a long, intense finish that gives the wine excellent presence.

Its six months of ageing on the lees contribute additional depth and a rounded mouthfeel while preserving the wine’s lively character. Best enjoyed young for its floral freshness and fruit purity, it should also develop added complexity over the short to medium term when carefully stored.

Production
The grapes come from Cascina Ghercina’s vineyards in Piedmont, including areas within the Langhe, Alba and Roero. The estate’s vineyards benefit from elevated, south-west-facing sites and the moderating influence of the Ghercina stream, which helps create a distinctive local microclimate. After a six-hour skin maceration, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures. The wine then matures for six months on its lees and undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation, resulting in a supple texture and rounded structure.

Food & Serving
A versatile aperitif, this Roero Arneis is also well suited to fish dishes, shellfish, risotto, rabbit and duck. Serve chilled at approximately 8–10°C to highlight its floral aromas and fresh fruit character. Decanting is not necessary, although allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass can help its chamomile and apricot notes unfold.

Producer
Founded in 1871, Cascina Ghercina remains guided by a clear commitment to estate cultivation and quality. In 2002, the family acquired eight hectares of vineyards on south-west-facing slopes at around 360 metres above sea level in the heart of the Barolo area, and built a 5,000-square-metre cellar, partly underground, expanding total storage capacity to more than 15,000 hectolitres. Today, the estate also farms vineyards across Langhe, Alba, Roero, Asti, Monferrato and Gavi, giving it a broad and representative presence within Piedmont.
