Born from the producer’s pioneering Tenuta Nuova project—planted in an area where Sangiovese had not previously been cultivated—it reflects a deeply researched approach to terroir, vineyard design and precision winemaking.

Tasting Notes
The bouquet is expressive and intense, opening with vibrant young red fruit, ripe blackberry and the balsamic notes typical of Brunello from Montalcino. On the palate, it is rich and beautifully structured, with excellent depth, silky tannins and a persistent, refined finish. The balance between elegance and concentration makes the wine approachable in its youth, while its structure and extended maturation point to excellent ageing potential. It should develop gracefully over the next 10–15 years, and likely longer under good cellaring conditions.

Production
Produced from Sangiovese grown in the Tenuta Nuova vineyards of Montalcino, the wine comes from a site selected after detailed studies of local microclimates, exposures, clones, rootstocks, planting density and cultivation methods. The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully selected and destemmed before undergoing spontaneous fermentation without added yeast. Maceration takes place in temperature-controlled conical steel tanks for around 25 days, with regular pumping-over to encourage gentle extraction. The wine then matures for 30 months in wood, followed by a further 18 months in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
Its combination of fruit, structure and polished tannins makes this Brunello an excellent partner for Tuscan dishes, braised beef, roast lamb, wild boar, game birds and richly flavoured mushroom or truffle preparations. It also works beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 18°C, ideally after allowing the bottle to come gradually to temperature. Decant for 1–2 hours when drinking young to open the aromas and soften the structure; older bottles are best handled gently and may only need a short airing.

Producer
Founded in 1971, Casanova di Neri has become one of the leading names in Montalcino, recognised for combining respect for the region’s traditions with an ambitious, research-driven approach to vineyard management.
