Concentrated yet beautifully balanced, it combines intense dark-fruit character with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and the savoury complexity expected from a traditionally made Brunello. Founded in 1962, the estate has remained in family hands for three generations.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour with developing garnet tones, this Brunello opens with aromas of black cherries, tobacco and balsamic herbs, followed by subtle earthy and spicy nuances. The palate is concentrated and complex, with ripe dark fruit, supple tannins and a refreshing line of acidity that gives the wine energy and length.

Its traditional structure and extended oak ageing make it enjoyable now with decanting, while the balance of fruit, tannin and acidity should allow it to develop further in bottle over the coming years. With careful cellaring, it can continue gaining savoury and tertiary complexity well into the 2030s.

Production
The vineyards are located in the northern part of Montalcino, in the Canalicchio di Sopra and Le Gode di Montosoli areas. Differences in elevation, exposure and soil contribute distinct Sangiovese profiles, which are carefully blended in the cellar. The grapes undergo a 15–20-day maceration on their skins, followed by temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 36 months in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks and refined for a further year in bottle.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for roast or grilled red meat, game and richly flavoured Tuscan dishes, this Brunello also works beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 18°C. Decant for approximately one to two hours before serving to open the wine’s aromas and soften its structure, particularly when enjoyed in its youth.

Producer
Azienda Agricola Canalicchio di Sopra was founded by Primo Pacenti in 1962 and is situated in Montalcino’s northern zone. The estate comprises approximately 60 hectares, including 15 hectares of vineyards and two hectares of olive groves, and has been guided for three generations by a combination of technical expertise, respect for nature and traditional winemaking values. Its vineyards in Canalicchio di Sopra and near Montosoli reflect the diversity of Montalcino and form the foundation of the estate’s distinctive Brunello style.
