It’s a bold dram for whisky drinkers who enjoy powerful peat but still want the malt to shine through.

Aroma & Palate
Expect a pronounced smoky nose, with earthy peat and sweet malt at its core. On the palate, the smoke is robust, balanced by the cereal character of the barley and the influence of oak; the finish is long and warming. Exact tasting impressions can vary with the bottle and time in the glass.

Distillation & Maturation
Octomore 17.3 is a single malt Scotch whisky made from malted barley and heavily peated before distillation. The .3 series is distinguished by its use of Islay-grown barley. It is matured in oak casks; specific cask details and maturation time are not provided here.

Serving Suggestions
Try it neat at room temperature, perhaps with a few minutes to open up in the glass. A drop of water can soften the peat and reveal more of the malt. Its smoky intensity also works well alongside smoked fish, aged cheese or dark chocolate.

Distillery
Bruichladdich Distillery stands on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, and was founded in 1881.
