Made from a historic parcel planted in 1905, it reflects the potential of this indigenous white grape on Bierzo’s varied soils.

Tasting Notes
Godello from Bierzo is often prized for its freshness and vitality, particularly in a warm-climate context. Specific tasting notes for this vintage have not been provided; the wine’s time in French oak may lend additional texture and complexity.

Production
The grapes come from an old parcel with clay and loam soils, interspersed with slate and quartz. Winemaker Nacho Léon has farmed the vineyard since 2013, including through a transition to organic viticulture. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed, and the wine spends an initial four months in French barriques; further maturation details are not available.

Food & Serving
Try it with grilled or roasted fish, shellfish, or chicken, where its freshness and oak-influenced texture can complement the dish. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. Decanting is not usually necessary, though a brief airing in the glass can help the wine open up.

Producer
Bodegas Demencia de Autor is based in Bierzo, where winemaker Nacho Léon has explored the region’s less familiar potential for white wine. He began tending this historic Godello parcel in 2013 and first bottled the wine separately with the 2017 vintage.
