Its name refers to the higher, wind-exposed vineyard sites where white grapes were traditionally planted, carrying on a regional tradition with a fresh, contemporary style.

Tasting Notes
Pale in appearance, it opens with aromas of green apple, citrus, white peach and white flowers, followed by a subtle flinty note. The palate is dry and lively, with crisp acidity, chalky mineral character and a lightly saline finish.

Production
The grapes come from small plots across the historic villages of Rioja Alavesa, on calcareous clay soils in the region’s higher, less fertile sites. The vines average around 36 years old, and the fruit is hand-harvested. The blend is based on Viura (also known as Macabeo), with Garnacha Blanca, Malvasía Riojana, Cagazal and Jaén. Fermentation and maturation take place in a combination of stainless steel, concrete and used oak, with the choice of vessels adjusted to the vintage to build texture without obscuring freshness.

Food & Serving
Serve at 9–11°C with shellfish, ceviche, sushi, grilled fish, light poultry, mild goat’s cheese or vegetable dishes. Decanting is not necessary; allowing the wine a few minutes to open in the glass should be sufficient. Enjoy now for its freshness, or cellar through around 2029–2030 for added texture and complexity.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0874/0614/9969/files/bideona-cabezadas-2024-rioja-alavesa-0.jpg?v=1791185869
